Fencing is an official Olympic sport that requires quickness and strength. It is a challenging and rewarding sport, both physically and mentally.  On the athletic side, speed and endurance are foremost, followed by strength, precision, and flexibility. On the intellectual side, a good focus combined with strategy and tactics is essential.

 

The camp includes:

Fencing Fitness training  •Fencing drills  •Fencing Footwork lessons                  

Bouting  •Fencing tournament Games  •Electric fencing

Private lessons  •All necessary fencing equipment    

Room and board available

COACHES

Walid Mahran is head coach of Athletic Club Northeast fencing.  He is also a three-time member of the Egyptian Olympic fencing team and winner of numerous international competitions and national titles. In the summer of 2006 alone, Coach Mahranˇ¦s competitive students earned nine medals at the United States Nationals.

 

Khaled Soliman was a member of the Egyptian Epee National Fencing team for fifteen consecutive years. He is the epee national coach of the Egyptian National Junior team. He was also the gold medalist in the Tunisia World Cup for Epee fencing.

 

Anna Repetskaya was three time member of USSR National Team. Before becoming an outstanding coach, she was an outstanding international competitive fencer with strong international results including the Champion of Belgium in 2006.

 

JENNY MONCADA was four time member of Colombia National Team. She won the Gold Medal in South American Championship and Bronze Medal in Pan-American Games in 1999. She also won numerous National Champions in Colombia.

Waiver - Fencing Classes

Participating in athletic training can involve certain risks. The fencing coach (Mr., Walid Mahran) will not assume responsibility for any injury incurred while participating in the fencing classes given at Darlington School. Nor will the fencing coach be liable for lost or stolen items while any child or adult is participating in the classes. I, the undersigned for myself, my heirs and assigns, do hereby release coaches, assistant coaches and any other personnel affiliated with the Classes from any and all claims for injury, death or damage of any kind I may suffer as a result of my participation in the classes.
