Athletic Club Northeast

With over 50 active members, ACN is the main base of operations for Lotus Fencing Academy. Members of the fencing club are free to practice during any of our hours of operation to take lessons, practice footwork, drill a new technique with a partner, and, of course, fence. Please refer to page 2 of our Registration Form for detailed information.

Open Fencing Hours

Open Fencing is available every day except Friday and Sunday between 5 and 9 pm, and Saturday from 11 am to 4:00 pm.

Monday 5 pm – 9 pm
Tuesday 5 pm – 9 pm
Wednesday 5 pm – 9 pm
Thursday 5 pm – 9 pm
Saturday 11 am – 4 pm

Fencing Lessons

Fencing lessons are available Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday by reservation, and Monday by private appointment.  Please refer to the Registration Form for detailed information.

Club Tournament

Starting in the 2016 – 2017 season, Lotus Fencing will hold a members-only tournament at the club every Friday (if there is not a local tournament that weekend):

Fitness Classes

Fitness Classes are available to all club members on Saturdays, and Competitive Track fencers only on Wednesday evenings:

Wednesday (Competitive Track Fencers only) 7:30 pm – 8:30 pm
Saturday (All Fencers) 2 pm – 3 pm

Lotus Fencing Membership

Trial, Kid’s, Basic and Competitive Track fencing memberships are available.  Please refer to the Registration Form for detailed information.

All members must be members of USFA in good standing.  Please refer to the USA Fencing web site for details.

Equipment

New students can use club equipment until they decide if this is the sport for them. Once a fencer decides to practice regularly, he or she should invest in quality equipment. For help on purchasing equipment, talk to your coach!

School Programs & Recreation Centers

Woodward Academy (Main Campus)
Classes for the Junior High and Elementary run for one hour once a week for ten weeks.
Eligibility: Fencers must be enrolled in Woodward Academy to take the fencing class with Walid Mahran.

Woodward Academy North
Classes for the Junior High and Elementary run for one hour once a week for ten weeks.
Eligibility: Fencers must be enrolled in Woodward Academy North to take the fencing class with Walid Mahran.

Decatur Recreation Center

Barney Medintz
Every Tuesday during the month of June and July, campers at Barney Medintz, a camp for Jewish children located just north of Atlanta in the Appalachian and Blue Ridge mountains, learn the sport of fencing. Students learn stretches, footwork, basic bladework, fencing etiquette and bouting.
